George Washington

“The trees were already looking sparse across the vast western frontier. Winter was winning the battle with the fall and was sure to take over in due time. In 1753, the unsettled countryside west of the colonies provided a rugged landscape for the Virginian travelers…”

So begins the first of six vignettes in the George Washington series. Each story in this series is written on a two-sided sheet of paper, and is accompanied by images, illustrations, and a map. The core element of each vignette is a series of “character questions,” designed to have students think more deeply about virtue and vice in the man George Washington.
